Last Thursday, April 6, at our quarterly chamber meeting, City Manager, Mike Nunneley provided an update on the Pelican Point bridge construction project. Here's what he had to say:
"The construction company should complete the concrete and be gone this week. The County should start back-filling around the bridge next week. The back-fill and completion of the new road and bridge surface should be completed in a couple of weeks."
"At this time, the newly elevated road and bridge will receive at 2 1/2 inch asphalt overlay. Then the entire road from highway 51 to Salt Creek dr. will receive a 2 inch overlay. This will make the new road and bridge surface 4 1/2 inches thick. This should only take a couple of days to complete, once the County turns it over to the City to complete the overlay project."
This morning, the City of Mannford provided another update on the bridge on their Facebook page.
Pelican Point Bridge Update: the concrete work is finished! The county will begin moving dirt for the road itself soon, that will take about 2 weeks. Asphalt will be done after that and the bridge should be open early May. We appreciate your patience as we have had weather and many different groups working together to get this project done!
Who's excited to finally have this bridge open?
